“I spend a lot of time thinking about how to create something that feels layered, that has high and low. I think that’s a bit truer to human nature [than a monochromatic, single-style look].”
Swedish-born, London-based interior designer Beata Heuman founded her eponymous studio in 2013 after honing her craft under the esteemed Nicky Haslam for nine years. In a remarkably short time, Heuman has become one of today’s most sought-after creatives, celebrated for her vibrant interiors and custom furnishings. Her work embodies a unique blend of Scandinavian precision and whimsical charm, with colorful spaces enlivened by exuberant elements and poetic inspirations. This signature quirkiness, combined with a steadfast commitment to practicality, has garnered her acclaim for both residential and commercial projects, as well as her expanding collection of bespoke fabrics, wallpaper, lighting, homewares, and furniture.
In March 2021, Beata published her best-selling book, "Every Room Should Sing," which offers a glimpse into her design philosophy across ten chapters, each highlighting a different aspect of her approach alongside stunning studio projects. Currently, Heuman's studio is engaged in a range of exciting projects, including a contemporary home in Hollywood, the revitalization of a rural estate in Scotland, and the renovation of the Carl Eldh's studio museum in Stockholm. Her work continues to resonate with clients and design enthusiasts alike, establishing her as a leading voice in the world of interior design.
