Foster + Partners
"My philosophy is essentially humanistic - a belief that the quality of design affects the quality of our lives and the pursuit of performance, sustainability, and beauty."
Foster + Partners is a global studio for sustainable architecture, urbanism, and design, founded by Norman Foster in 1967. The company founder (and executive chairman) has a strong design background - graduating in Architecture and City Planning from Manchester University in 1961, then winning a Henry Fellowship to Yale University, where he continued his education and earned his Master’s Degree in Architecture.
Over a span of 50+ years, Foster and the team around him have established an international practice with a worldwide reputation. The company’s practice has evolved and been responsible for a strikingly wide range of work, from urban master plans, public infrastructure, airports, cultural buildings, offices and workplaces, to private houses, furniture production, and lighting designs.
With offices across the globe, the studio emphasizes sustainability in the heart of everything it undertakes - leading to the development of bespoke strategies that drive its environmental agenda. Foster + Partners’ integrated team creates and implements innovative design strategies that have a firm focus on the future of the environment.
