Gabriele & Oscar Buratti
Gabriele Buratti, architect and professor of interior design at the Facoltà del Design of the Politecnico di Milano, and Oscar Buratti, architect, are the co-founders of the architecture and design studio Buratti Architetti.
The studio is involved in projects of different scales, including the architecture of buildings, urban areas, and interiors, and the design of furniture and other products. The studio has carried out successful projects in historical city centres in Italy and abroad, always with the aim of combining culture with professional specialization, experimentation with technique, and original vision with a high standard of quality.
Working with FontanaArte, the studio produced the beautiful Equatore table lamp — a contemporary reinterpretation of the classic lamp with a glass shade. While the traditional abat-jour uses the shade to contain the light source within, in this family of lamps the shade is paradoxically and suggestively empty, with the light being generated by two luminous discs placed inside a central metal band, visible on the shade, that evokes the line of the equator.
In the retail sector, Buratti Architetti has collaborated with prestigious brands such as La Perla, Automobili Lamborghini, Husqvarna Motorcycles, BMW, Ducati, Oroblù/LeBourget, Acerbis Italia, and Tre Marie/Barilla. In the field of design they have collaborated with major companies including Acerbis International, Alias, Antonio Lupi, B&B Italia, Ceccotti Collezioni, Effetti, Antonio Frattini, Gallotti&Radice, iGuzzini, Living Divani, Paola Lenti, Poliform, Poltrona Frau, Porada, Porro, Roca, Silvelox, Tecno, Valli&Valli, and Vondom.
The studio has received numerous international awards and recognitions, including the Wallpaper Design Award in 2010, the Design+Plus Award in 2009, the Best_Ed Award in 2010, an FX Design Award in 2009, an Honorable Mention XXII Compassod’Oro in 2011, and an ARTRAVEL Award in 2013.
