Ilaria Marelli
"I wasn’t trained as a designer, but I was intrigued by the worlds of art and science together. Inspiration comes to me from different experiences; from day to day life, to an art exhibition, to a scientific conference."
Interested in the social and cultural aspects of design, Marelli studied Architecture at the Polytechnic University of Milan. After five years, she opened the Ilaria Marelli Studio.
As an architect and designer, Ilaria Marelli deals with every aspect of project design, which entails art direction, strategy consulting, interiors, installations, and creating ideas that are simultaneously emotional and experimental.
On top of working on her personal projects, Marelli teaches as a professor of Interior Design at her alma mater and as a professor of Strategic Design at the Polytechnic School of Design. She also promotes social innovation projects, including the first cohousing project in Italy.
Marelli’s hard work and commitment has paid off in the form of recognition in the design world - resulting in her winning the Milano Donna award in 2008 and the AlumniPolimi award for Architecture in 2015.
